DIOGO AYRES-DE-CAMPOS, is a Full Professor and Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical School and Santa Maria University Hospital, Lisbon, Portugal.

He is a co-inventor of the Omniview-SisPorto® program for computer analysis of fetal monitoring signals (Speculum, Portugal), of the clinical record database Obscare® (Virtualcare, Portugal), and of the Lucina®  obstetric simulator (CAE Healthcare, Canada).

With an h-index of 44 (Researchgate), he has published more than 175 articles in Medline-indexed scientific journals, edited two international books and presented more than 350 invited lectures in international scientific meetings.

He was parto f the “Stanford/Elsevier Top 2% Scientists List” in 20202025. Since 2021 he is the Director o the jornal Acta Obstetrica e Ginecologica Portuguesa.

He is the Immediate Past-President of the European Association of Perinatal Medicine, current President of the Federation of Portuguese Societies of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and current Chair of the Guideline Development Working Group do European Board and College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (EBCOG). Between 2010 and 2018 he integrated the Safe Motherhood and Newborn Health Committee at the International Federation of Obstetrics and Gynecology (FIGO), where he co-ordinated the 2015 revision of the FIGO consensus guidelines on intrapartum fetal monitoring. 

He is currently President of  Portuguese Fedeartion of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Societies (2021-). He is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (2022), the Hellenic Society of Perinatal Medicine (2022), the Romanian Society of Fetal and Neonatal Medicine (2023), the Czech Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (2025), and is an awardee of the “Soranus of Efesus” career prize of the South-East Mediterranean Society of Perinatal Medicine (2025).
