Personal data: Born in Athens, Greece.

Training: He was trained as an Obstetrician Gynecologist (1992-1996) in the University of Athens 1st Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Ιn 1997 he was a research fellow and honorary lecturer at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the King’s College Hospital, University of London with Professor KH Nicolaides. In 2014 he Received the subspeciality of “European Materno-Fetal and Perinatal Medicine Specialist” from the EBCOG/EAPM. He has also received the Diploma of Fetal Medicine from the FMF, London. In 2020, was appointed Professor of Obstetrics Gynecology in the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

He is involved in perinatal medicine and he is the Head of the 1st Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Membership: At the national level he is a member of several bodies in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Perinatal Medicine, Ultrasound and Fetal Medicine such as the Hellenic Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Hellenic Society of Perinatal Medicine, the Hellenic Society of Prenatal Diagnosis and Fetal Therapy, the Hellenic Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Hellenic Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine, the Hellenic Society of Medical Studies. He is member of the Editorial Board of two Greek Medical Journals. He is member of the World Association of Perinatal Medicine, of the European association of perinatal medicine, of FIGO, of the International society of ultrasound in obstetrics and gynecology, and of the Fetal medicine foundation. He was the former vice president of the Hellenic Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology and he is the vice president of the Hellenic Society of Perinatal Medicine.

Professional and research interests: His main interests are preterm labor, invasive prenatal testing, congenital infections, multiple pregnancies, pre-eclampsia and intrauterine growth retardation.He supervised several PhD thesis, research projects on different subjects and acted as referee for other PhD thesis.

Publications: Dr Daskalakis has more than 300 publications in International and Hellenic peer-reviewed journals and has written several chapters in International and Hellenic medical books.
