He is a Professor of Obstetrics - Gynecology - Maternal-Fetal Medicine and the President of the Third Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Aristotle University School of Medicine in Thessaloniki, Greece. He specialized at the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Unit of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Yale University, USA.
His scientific contribution includes more than 300 scientific papers, presentations, articles, and chapters. His works have been cited over 3,400 times in the Science Citation Index. He has been invited as a speaker and has given more than 380 lectures at international and Greek congresses and meetings.
He conceived and implemented, in collaboration with other professors and specialists in the field, the creation of the "South-East European Society of Perinatal Medicine," which includes participation from 13 countries.
Currently, he serves as: President of the "Hellenic College of Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialists," President of the "Thessaloniki Medical Society," Vice-President of the "Hellenic Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology," and Treasurer of the "European Association of Perinatal Medicine."
He is a full member of the "International Academy of Perinatal Medicine" and a visiting professor at the Weill Cornell Medical College in the USA, the European University of Cyprus, and the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell NY, USA.
