Personal Information: Born in Athens, Greece.
Education: He was trained as an Obstetrician Gynecologist (1992-1996) at the First Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the University of Athens. In 1997, he was a researcher and honorary lecturer at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at King's College Hospital, University of London, under Professor KH Nicolaides. In 2014, he obtained the sub-specialty of "European Specialist in Maternal-Fetal and Perinatal Medicine" from EBCOG/EAPM. He also received the Diploma in Fetal Medicine from FMF, London. In 2020, he was appointed Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He is involved in perinatal medicine and is the head of the First Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Membership: Nationally, he is a member of several organizations in the fields of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Perinatal Medicine, Ultrasound, and Fetal Medicine, such as the Hellenic Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Hellenic Society of Perinatal Medicine, the Hellenic Society for Prenatal Diagnosis and Fetal Therapy, the Hellenic Society for Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Hellenic Society of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and the Hellenic Society of Medical Studies. He is a member of the editorial board of two Greek medical journals. He is also a member of the World Association of Perinatal Medicine, the European Association of Perinatal Medicine, FIGO, the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the Fetal Medicine Foundation. He is the former vice-president of the Hellenic Society for Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is currently the vice-president of the Hellenic Society of Perinatal Medicine.

Professional and Research Interests: His main interests are preterm labor, invasive prenatal testing, congenital infections, multiple pregnancies, pre-eclampsia, and intrauterine growth restriction. He has supervised several Ph.D. theses, research projects on various topics, and has acted as a reviewer for other Ph.D. theses.

Publications: Dr. Daskalakis has over 300 publications in international and Greek peer-reviewed journals and has written several chapters in international and Greek medical books.
