Aleodor (Doru) Andea, MD, MBA, is Chief of Dermatopathology and Professor of Oncology at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, Buffalo, NY. Dr. Andea’s areas of expertise are Dermatopathology and Molecular Pathology. He received his MD from “Victor Babes” University of Medicine, Timisoara, Romania and completed an Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Residency at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan.

This was followed by fellowships in Dermatopathology at Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, SC and Oncologic Pathology and Molecular Pathology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York, NY. Dr. Andea also earned a Master of Business Administration degree from UAB School of Business.

At Roswell Cancer Center, Dr. Andea has established and is leading the Dermatopathology Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory providing clinical testing for melanocytic tumors. Dr Andea has a particular interest in developing and improving ancillary molecular tests to help classify and predict prognosis in histologically ambiguous melanocytic tumors. He was invited to deliver numerous national and international presentations on a variety of dermatopathology topics, with a focus on molecular diagnostic tools for melanocytic tumors.

Dr. Andea is the author of over 100 peer-reviewed publications, one book, 3 book chapters and over 100 abstracts mainly in the field of dermatopathology. Dr. Andea serves currently as president of the International Society of Dermatopathology and Western New York Society of Pathology.

A absolvit Universitatea de Medicină „Victor Babeș” din Timișoara și a urmat rezidențiatul în Anatomie Patologică și Patologie Clinică la Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan.

A efectuat fellowship-uri în Dermatopatologie la Medical University of South Carolina și în Patologie Oncologică și Moleculară la Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York. Deține și un MBA obținut la UAB School of Business.

La Roswell Park, Dr. Andea a fondat și coordonează Laboratorul de Diagnostic Molecular în Dermatopatologie, cu focus pe tumorile melanocitare. Dr. Andea are un interes deosebit în dezvoltarea și perfecționarea testelor moleculare auxiliare, menite să sprijine clasificarea și estimarea prognosticului în tumorile melanocitare cu aspect histologic ambiguu. A fost invitat să susțină numeroase prezentări naționale și internaționale pe o varietate de teme din dermatopatologie, cu accent pe instrumentele de diagnostic molecular pentru tumorile melanocitare.

Dr. Andea este autorul a peste 100 de publicații științifice evaluate inter pares, al unei cărți, a 3 capitole de carte și a peste 100 de rezumate, în principal în domeniul dermatopatologiei. În prezent, Dr. Andea deține funcția de președinte al International Society of Dermatopathology și al Western New York Society of Pathology.
