Dr. Gheorghe graduated from Victor Babes Medical School in Timisoara, Romania. She completed a residency in anatomical and clinical pathology at the University of Colorado followed by a fellowship in hematopathology at University of Indianapolis and a fellowship in pediatric pathology at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. She is board certified in hematopathology and pediatric pathology.

She joined Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital in August 2020 as an Associate Member on the clinical track faculty.

Her area of expertise focuses on pathologic characterization of hematopoietic entities in pediatric patients, including pediatric leukemias, lymphomas and histiocytic lesions. Through her active involvement in interdisciplinary tumor conferences and research activities Dr. Gheorghe became a key member and collaborator within the hematology/oncology program at SJCRH.

In 2024 she was the recipient of a Joseph Simone Golden Apple Teaching award at SJCRH for “enthusiastic commitment to teaching, an exemplary imparting of wisdom and esteem model of mentorship”.

Over the years she became an active collaborator at workshops at the Society for Hematopathology, European Association for Hematopathology, Society for Pediatric Pathology, European Congress of Cytology, among others.

The topic of her publications is related to pediatric hematopathology. She presented her work at various national and international venues.

Dr. Gheorghe a absolvit Universitatea de Medicină „Victor Babeș” din Timișoara, România. A finalizat un rezidențiat în anatomie patologică și patologie clinică la University of Colorado, urmat de un fellowship în hematopatologie la University of Indianapolis și un fellowship în patologie pediatrică la University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Este certificată în hematopatologie și patologie pediatrică.

S-a alăturat St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital în august 2020, în calitate de Membru Asociat pe filiera clinică.

Domeniul său de expertiză se concentrează pe caracterizarea patologică a afecțiunilor hematopoietice la pacienții pediatrici, incluzând leucemii, limfoame și leziuni histiocitare pediatrice. Prin implicarea activă în comisii tumorale interdisciplinare și în activități de cercetare, Dr. Gheorghe a devenit un membru-cheie și colaborator în cadrul programului de hematologie/oncologie al SJCRH.

În 2024, a fost distinsă cu premiul Joseph Simone Golden Apple Teaching Award la SJCRH pentru „angajamentul entuziast față de activitatea didactică, transmiterea exemplară a cunoștințelor și modelul remarcabil de mentorat”.

De-a lungul anilor, a fost colaborator activ în cadrul workshopurilor organizate de Society for Hematopathology, European Association for Hematopathology, Society for Pediatric Pathology, European Congress of Cytology, printre altele.

Publicațiile sale abordează domeniul hematopatologiei pediatrice, iar lucrările sale au fost prezentate la numeroase manifestări științifice naționale și internaționale.
