LAURA MAZILU

Professor Laura Mazilu is a senior consultant in oncology and internal medicine, Head of the Clinical Oncology Department of Ovidius Clinical Hospital since 2022. 

Between 2013-2022 she was the Head of Oncology Department of the Clinical Oncology Department of Clinical Emergency Hospital of Constanta, Romania.

Since 2020 she is Professor of Oncology at Ovidius University of Constanta, Romania. She is the current President of the Romanian Society for Medical Oncology for 2026-2027.

She has over 130 invited oral presentations at national and international congresses and conferences. She published 85 papers in extenso in peer-reviewed journals, 124 abstracts in national/international conferences on oncology and other medical topics, and 30 book chapters or monographies in national or international publishing houses. The recognition of academic and research activity can be followed in the most prestigious international databases, an increased number of citations and recommendations being available. Some of her works became reference for international guidelines like ESMO/ASCO.

One of her main areas of interest is cardio-oncology and she is the co-director for the first cardio-oncology course in Romania, an annual course that started in 2019.

She also has interest in clinical research – she is the principal investigator for more than 30 clinical trials.
