Ovidiu Simion Cotoi, MD, PhD, is a Romanian professor of pathophysiology and senior consultant pathologist at the “George Emil Palade” University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science and Technology in Târgu Mureș. He currently serves as Vice-Rector for undergraduate and master’s programs and previously held the position of Dean of the Faculty of Medicine (2016–2025). He is also Head of the Clinical Service of Pathology at the Mureș County Clinical Hospital and coordinator of residency training in anatomical pathology.

Prof. Cotoi obtained his MD and PhD (cum laude) from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Târgu Mureș and completed postdoctoral research training in the United States. He has led and contributed to numerous national and international research projects in cardiovascular disease, tissue engineering, and immunological mechanisms, and has been actively involved in academic leadership, medical education, and scientific publishing.
